Florida State University International Student Jenny Cen to Represent University at National Hispanic Marketing Council Competition.
Student from FSU’s Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication earns national spotlight.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—At Florida State University, standout students are everywhere, but Jenny Cen is quickly gaining recognition for her academic drive and national-level achievement. This spring, Cen will represent FSU at the prestigious Hispanic Marketing Council Student Competition, held during the organization’s annual conference in New York City from April 22–24.
An international student from Panama, Jenny is pursuing a double major in Digital Media Production and Information, Communication & Technology, while also earning a certificate in Multicultural Marketing Communication. In addition to her academic workload, she contributes to FSU Athletics, where she develops creative content across video and social media platforms.
The HMC Annual Conference brings together leading brands, professionals, and students in the Hispanic marketing industry to explore emerging trends and the future of multicultural communication. For student competitors like Jenny, the experience offers more than recognition. It also provides valuable networking opportunities and direct access to industry leaders, which strengthened her knowledge well beyond the classroom.
Jenny’s success is heavily supported by her involvement with the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication, where students gain hands-on experience through conferences, mentorship, and overall professional development opportunities in multicultural marketing.
Alessandra Noli Peschiera, the associate director of CHMC and current FSU PhD candidate, expressed, “The Center meets students where they are. We want to act as a place where students can explore, try new things, and figure out what actually interests them.”
The Center’s director, Dr. Sindy Chapa, adds, “A lot of our students walk in unsure of their path and leave with a clearer idea of the niche they want to pursue, and real experience to back it up.”
Jenny’s journey highlights the impact of these opportunities. Her involvement demonstrates how students can use campus resources to gain real-world experience and prepare for leadership roles in an evolving, multicultural industry.
About the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication
The Center was established in 2004 by Felipe Korzenny as the first program in the United States focused on educating students about research related to the Hispanic market. Over the past two decades, the CHMC has evolved into a nationally esteemed program that recognizes the significance and impact of multicultural marketing and advertising.
