The Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication's 20th Anniversary Gala
Join us for a momentous occasion as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication (CHMC) at this year’s Gala on October 11, 2024. The prestigious event will take place at the Florida State University Alumni Center in Tallahassee. This year’s theme, “Embrace. Empower. Elevate.”, is a tribute to the 20 years of embracing culture, empowering voices, and elevating community by the CHMC. Aligned with the National Hispanic Heritage Month, the 2024 Gala event is a platform to acknowledge Latino excellence and honor the achievements of distinguished honorees. The event will feature a captivating silent auction, live musical performances, and networking opportunities with our students, faculty, industry professionals, and friends.
Our Mission
The 20th Anniversary Gala is a celebration and a commitment to providing financial assistance for aspiring marketing and communications professionals. By raising awareness, showcasing industry excellence, and building communities, we aim to make a significant difference. The event proceeds will provide educational resources and opportunities to students of the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication at Florida State University, inspiring the next generation of marketing and communications leaders.

Tito Puente Jr. Honored with the Prestigious 2024 Tlamatini Award for Significant Contributions
Tito Puente Jr. - Tlamanti Award
Meet Tito Puente Jr., the recipient of the Tlamatini Award. His selection is a testament to his significant musical contributions as a Latin percussionist, songwriter, and producer. Carrying forward the legacy of his father, Tito Puente, also known as “El Rey del Timbal,” Tito Puente Jr. has introduced salsa and Latin jazz to new audiences, preserving the cultural heritage of his Puerto Rican roots through his music. This year, he is commemorating 20 years of transferring his father's legacy to the next generations. We are proud to honor his achievements at our Gala.
Carlos Carrasco Honored with the 2024 Circle of Excellence Award in Acting
Carlos Carrasco - Circle of Excellence Award in Acting
Presented annually by the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication, the Circle of Excellence Award in Acting is a distinguished award given to outstanding performers in the film industry. Carrasco’s tenure as a Broadway actor and appearances in major blockbuster films such as “Speed,” “Blood In Blood Out,” and “Parker” were critical factors in his selection. Carrasco, originally from Panama City, Panama, is also an award-winning director and producer. Carrasco is a pioneer in Latino film with a dynamic level of expertise and continues to influence the Hispanic community positively.
Vivian de las Cuevas-Diaz Honored with the 2024 Circle of Excellence Award in Advocacy
Vivian de las Cuevas-Diaz - Circle of Excellence Award in Advocacy
Vivian de las Cuevas-Diaz, an FSU alumna, is the first Latina to be appointed to the Florida State University Board of Trustees. An attorney from Miami, de las Cuevas-Diaz is a partner at the Holland & Knight law firm and serves as the firmwide deputy section leader of the Real Estate Section, assisting in managing the firm's nationwide real estate practice. The Circle of Excellence Award in Advocacy is a tribute to her incredible achievements in supporting the growth of Latino communities.
