The Hispanic Marketing Communications Program at Florida State presented a perfect complement to my degree. It allowed me to offer future employers an emerging, marketable skill in an important area of the industry. It was also a big contributor to my internships with Estefan Enterprises and Zubi Advertising, where I put into practice what I had learned about effectively targeting Hispanic consumers in the entertainment and advertising industries. At Zubi, I worked on projects for Washington Mutual and Olive Garden, targeting Hispanics using direct marketing executions. I am currently working as an Interactive Account Coordinator for the Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, representing international and domestic clients like the Intercontinental Hotel Group, British Virgin Islands, and Aflac.

Like most students I wasn't sure as to what I really wanted to do after graduation, having majored in International Affairs with an emphasis in Marketing, I learned that marketing was something I really liked. It wasn't until my last semester as a senior at Florida State that I discovered what my real passion was. I was lucky to come across a class that seemed to be very interesting, Hispanic Marketing Communications, so I convinced two of my friends to take the class with me. Hispanic Marketing opened a door that I had never seen. I realized how important the Hispanic Market was and wanted to learn more about it. I decided to Minor in this new amazing program, and having done that I was able to get an internship with a very well known Hispanic Advertising Agency. I am now a full time employee for the same agency that I interned in and I love my job. If it wasnt for the opportunity that was presented to me by taking this class and getting this minor, I would not be doing what I like most. I feel very lucky! So thank you, to all of you who made it happen."

On Thursday, January 19, 2006, the Center for Hispanic Marketing awarded it's second graduate certificate in Hispanic Marketing Communication to Ms. Eva Asher Pelt, previous Assistant Director for Multicultural Affairs at FSU.
Ms. Asher has been involved with the Center since she heard about the Graduate Certificate and began advertising it to students at the University. She soon decided to pursue the Certificate herself, as an example for all multicultural students.  She continues to play a vital role in the success of the Center for Hispanic Marketing with her on-going support and research.
Ms. Asher is currently working on a project to make Dr. Felipe Korzenny's highly successful course in Hispanic Marketing Communication available to marketing students and professionals in an online format.
